Sacred Valley - Humantay lake - Machu Picchu - Rainbow Mountain
Upon your arrival in Cusco, you'll be greeted by a representative who will introduce you to your private guide and driver for your Cusco visit. They will then accompany you in a private vehicle to Pisac, a significant Inca site located in the Urubamba Valley, with various stops along the way.
Llama & Alpaca Ranch | En Route to Pisac On the journey to Pisac, you'll have the opportunity to encounter the diverse Andean camelids that inhabit this region, including llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, and guanacos. Alpacas are known for their thick wool, commonly used in textiles, while vicuñas, smaller in size, possess delicate fur considered the finest in the world.
Guided Visit of Pisac Market and Ruins Following your visit to the Llama & Alpaca Ranch, continue to Pisac, where you can immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of the town's famous market. Here, you'll discover an array of handcrafted goods and fresh produce. Afterward, explore the Pisac ruins, featuring Inca masonry of exceptional quality. These terraced ruins follow the natural contours of the mountain, offering spectacular views of the valley. You can explore this remarkable site at your own pace.
Pisac Market
Today's excursion in the Sacred Valley offers an authentic experience. You'll be picked up from your hotel and taken to Chinchero, a historic town and ruins situated at a high altitude (3,800m/12,500ft). Chinchero was once the residence of Inca Tupac Yupanqui, and it boasts a rich history. Your visit includes a tour of the town and ruins, and you can also choose to visit a renowned weaving center in the area.
Then, embark on a moderate difficulty hike at high altitude. As you leave Chinchero, friendly llamas and their caretakers will accompany you. You'll gradually ascend for about 1.5-2 hours, surrounded by fields of potatoes, flowers, and Andean grain, often without encountering other travelers. The locals with you, guided by your expert, will share insights about regional plants and the significance of llamas in their community.
Upon reaching a beautiful mountain plateau, you can take a break, enjoy a snack, and capture some photographs. The journey continues as you descend for approximately an hour until you reach the less-visited Incan ruins of Machucollca. Throughout the hike, you'll be treated to panoramic mountain and valley views. If you're up for it, you can even guide the llamas.
Your guide will provide information about the ancient purpose of the ruins, primarily for food storage. Afterward, it's about 20 more minutes to the local community of Rachji, where a warm local family will welcome you for a thoughtfully prepared lunch. The meal will feature homegrown vegetables, potatoes, corn, delectable meat, and homemade sauces, with the menu varying by the season.
Following lunch, you'll visit their outdoor weaving area for a demonstration of their textile artistry, showcasing the process of spinning, dyeing, and weaving wool or fur from their animals. You'll also have the opportunity to observe or try your hand at plowing in the field, watching them demonstrate their daily farm tasks. This immersive day filled with culture and trekking offers a new perspective on the region, and you'll return to your hotel with these enriching experiences.
Chinchero Town
In this program, we'll explore one of Cusco's new tourist circuits, the Humantay Lagoon, a natural attraction located in the town of Soraypampa. Previously, it was mainly visited by those who dared to hike to the snowy Salkantay, but now it has become a popular destination for travelers. Visiting the Humantay Lagoon won't take more than a day, and the hike is easy if you've acclimatized to the altitude in Cusco. The reward for your effort is the stunning landscape with turquoise waters at the lagoon.
Our guide will pick you up at your hotel between 4:00 and 5:00 in the morning to begin our unforgettable day tour to Humantay Lagoon. We'll then take a two and a half-hour car ride to the town of Mollepata. From there, we'll continue our journey to the town of Soraypampa, and from this point, we'll start a one and a half to two-hour hike to reach the Humantay Lagoon. Here, you can enjoy the breathtaking scenery and capture unforgettable photos before returning to Mollepata, where we'll savor a delicious box lunch. After lunch, we'll commence the return trip to the city of Cusco. Our tour ends at approximately 18:30 hrs.
Humantay Lake
We will take the train to Km 104, where we will embark on a approximately 6-hour hike. We will start by crossing a bridge that spans the banks of the Urubamba River, beginning at the archaeological complex of Cachabamba. Then, we will ascend towards the ruins of Wiñay Wayna. Access to this site is only on foot, and it is the closest archaeological site to Machu Picchu. Our next stop will be the Inti Punku (Sun Gate), where you will get your first incredible view of Machu Picchu, a sight that leaves everyone in awe. From here, we will begin our descent towards Machu Picchu.
Inca Rail Train
This day is when we will visit Machu Picchu. We will take the bus from Aguas Calientes to the Inca citadel, where your guide will provide a complete tour of the places you choose to visit. Feel free to ask any questions you have about the ancient Inca citadel and the new wonder of the modern world. At the end of the tour, we will return to Aguas Calientes by bus.
We will leave the incredible Inca citadel of Machu Picchu to return to Cusco on a luxury train, where you can enjoy a very pleasant landscape on the way back and, depending on the trend, enjoy a performance by the train staff. The train journey lasts nearly 2 hours, and the drive from Ollantaytambo to Cusco is also 2 hours.
Upon arrival at Ollantaytambo train station, you will be met by a representative of Andean Exclusive and transferred approximately 2 hours to your hotel in Cusco.
Cusco, located at an elevation of 3400 meters (11,155 feet), is renowned as one of the most beautiful cities in Peru and perhaps all of South America. It was once the capital of the Inca Empire, which stretched from southern Colombia to northern Chile and Argentina, and eastward into the Andes and the Amazon basin.
The tour begins with hotel pick-up and a visit to the Plaza de Armas, the heart of the city. Explore Cusco while your expert guide shares its rich history and the significant events that unfolded in its streets and buildings. Visit the striking Renaissance-style cathedral and marvel at the precise masonry of Koricancha, the Inca "Temple of the Sun."
You'll also have the opportunity to explore key Inca archaeological sites in the vicinity of Cusco, with the choice to visit based on your prior exploration of the city. The standout site is the temple-fortress of Sacsayhuaman, which commands a commanding position overlooking the city. This unique Inca site boasts megalithic architecture, featuring enormous zigzag terrace walls constructed from some of the world's largest carved stones.
You can further explore nearby archaeological sites, including Tambomachay, a revered spring water source of the Incas, Q'enqo, a stone labyrinth, and Puca Pucara, a tower within the Sacsayhuaman complex.
Saqsayhuaman Fortress
This incredible mountain is located in the Vilcanota mountain range, very close to the Ausangate snow-capped mountain. Its vibrant colors are the result of marine, lacustrine, and river sediments transported by water that once covered the area approximately 65 million years ago.
On this day, we will pick you up from your hotel very early to drive to the town of Cusipata and then Phulawasipata. This hike is moderate and lasts approximately 3 hours for the 6-kilometer journey to reach Vinicunca. It's possible to rent horses for children and to carry luggage.
When we reach the mountain we can take photos and contemplate the view that this hike gives us. We will then return to Cusco and say goodbye after dropping you off at your hotel.
Vinicunca - Rainbow Mountain
On the way out from Cusco, a representative will pick you up from your hotel 2 hours and 15 minutes earlier to your flight and take you to the airport. The representative has already your boarding pass to get inside the airport and would help you with check-in process and be there if you need something in the counter. Then will escort you to the entrance of departures launge to say goodbye.
