DAY 1. CUSCO - CHIQUISCA

We leave Cusco at 6:00 a.m. in our private transport and we will go to Cachora, an Andean community located 4-5h from Cusco at 2800m / 9184 feet, the starting point of the walk where we meet our muleteers and horses. We start our trek climbing for two and a half hours towards the Capuliyoc pass at 2750m / 9020 feet, where we can enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and the Apurímac River Canyon. We continue descending for two more hours towards Chiquisca, where we will set up our camp and spend the night.

DAY 2. CHIQUISCA - CHOQUEQUIRAO

We leave Chiquisca at 6:00 a.m. in the direction of Playa Rosalina, a journey which will last approximately one hour. Next, we will cross the Apurimac River and begin the ascent to Santa Rosa, zigzagging along a steep slope. This climb takes about 2 hours, and it is important to leave early so that the heat does not make the walk more difficult than it needs to be. In Santa Rosa, we will have a half-hour break, where those who wish may try Cambray, an extract of the local sugarcane. Afterwards, we continue our hike slowly by climbing for two and a half hours until we reach our lunch spot in Marampata. From here we walk two more hours until we reach the archaeological complex of Choquequirao, located at 3103m / 10178 feet, where we will camp, we will have free time to enjoy and explore the terraces and buildings.

DAY 03: CHOQUEQUIRAO TO PLAYA ROSALINA

This morning we will enjoy a complete guided tour of the Choquequirao complex: we will visit the upper part (Hanan), and the lower parts (Urin), and some areas still covered with wild foliage and ready to be restored in the way it was during the Inca times. After the tour, we start our walk back to Santa Rosa, where we will have lunch. We continue descending for another 2 hours until we reach Playa Rosalina at 1450m / 4756 ft.
